Jamshedpur DD Bar owner Neeraj Singh sent to jail after 72-hour police remand

Jamshedpur, July 13 : BJP leader and DD Bar owner Neeraj Singh was on Monday sent to jail after the completion of his 72-hour police remand in connection with the sensational murder of Karni Sena leader Himanshu Singh.
He was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) by the Bistupur police, following which the court sent him back to jail. Tight security arrangements were in place at the court premises during the hearing.
According to sources, Singh was taken into three-day police custody after being brought to Jamshedpur from Rajasthan, where he was arrested. During the remand, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) questioned him extensively on several aspects of the case, including his alleged links with the accused, events leading up to and following the murder, mobile call records, digital evidence and other technical inputs.
Investigators are attempting to establish the sequence of events and identify the roles of all those allegedly involved in the conspiracy.
Advocates Prakash Jha and Rajhans Tiwari were present during the court proceedings. Police officials said the investigation is continuing.
Himanshu Singh was brutally killed in a sharp-weapon attack outside DD Bar in Bistupur on the night of June 27.
Another youth accompanying him sustained serious injuries. The murder in one of the city’s busiest commercial areas triggered widespread outrage and protests, prompting the district police to constitute an SIT.
The investigation has since progressed on the basis of CCTV footage, technical evidence and raids conducted at multiple locations. Several accused have been arrested, while others surrendered before the court.
