Jamshedpur DC visits Old Age Home, felicitates elderly voters

Jamshedpur: In honor of International Senior Citizens Day, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner  Ananya Mittal visited the Old Age Home at Baradwari, taking the opportunity to interact with the elderly residents and assess their living conditions. The visit also served to highlight the role of senior citizens in the democratic process, as  Mittal felicitated elderly voters, acknowledging their continued participation in elections and encouraging them to exercise their right to vote.

During his visit,  Mittal enquired whether the residents possessed voter ID cards, ensuring that no senior citizen would be left out of the upcoming Assembly elections. He reiterated the District Administration’s commitment to ensuring that all eligible voters are equipped with the necessary documentation to cast their votes. “The contribution of our elders to a strong democracy is invaluable,” said  Mittal. “The youth of today should take inspiration from the senior citizens and actively participate in the electoral process.”

The District Magistrate also conducted a thorough inspection of the old age home, seeking information from the operator about the living conditions, food, and healthcare services provided to the elderly.  Mittal emphasized the need for better care and support, issuing instructions for enhanced facilities, particularly in terms of nutrition and overall well-being. As a gesture of care, fruits and nutritious food items were distributed to the residents.

Deputy Election Officer Priyanka Singh and District Social Welfare Officer Sandhya Rani accompanied the District Magistrate during the visit, along with other dignitaries. Their presence underscored the administration’s dedication to improving the welfare of senior citizens and ensuring their active participation in the upcoming elections.
