Jamshedpur, Oct 23: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav celebrated Diwali with the students of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential School on Sunday.
She lit diyas with the kids and also gave them firecrackers, sweets and gifts. Children were visibly happy on getting the surprise gifts.
The DC said Deepawali was a festival of joys and she was happy to celebrate it with the students who hailed from poor families. There are 150 students in the school some of whom have gone home on Diwali, she added.
The DC was accompanied by several other district administration officials who included Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) of Dhalbhum Sandeep Kumar Meena, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Saurabh Kumar Sinha, District Education Officer (DEO) Nirmala Kumari Barelia, District Superintendent of Education (DSE) Nishu Kumari and CDPO Durgesh Nandini.
