Jamshedpur, July 1: With the onset of the rainy season, Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav has issued a heartfelt appeal to the residents of the district, urging them to take necessary precautions to avoid any loss of life or property due to electricity-related incidents. Emphasizing the importance of safety during this time, the Deputy Commissioner has also provided helpline numbers for immediate assistance.
The rainy season brings with it the potential risks of electrical accidents, which can be caused by various factors such as heavy rains, lightning, and waterlogging. These incidents can result in power outages, short circuits, and even electrocutions, posing a serious threat to both lives and property.
In light of these concerns, the Deputy Commissioner has urged residents to be proactive in ensuring their safety. The appeal highlights the following key points to be followed:
Stay away from electrical poles and wires: During heavy rains, it is essential to maintain a safe distance from electrical poles and wires, as they may become hazardous due to strong winds or falling trees.
Avoid waterlogged areas: Waterlogging can pose significant risks, especially when it comes to electrical equipment and installations. Residents are advised to steer clear of areas with standing water to prevent electrocution or other electrical accidents.
Report any electrical hazards: If you come across damaged electrical poles, exposed wires, or any other potential hazards, promptly report them to the designated authorities or the helpline numbers provided below. Timely intervention can help prevent accidents and ensure prompt repairs.
Jadhav has also announced the availability of helpline numbers that residents can use to seek immediate assistance or report any electricity-related emergencies.
Residents are encouraged to save these numbers on their phones for quick access during emergencies. The administration is fully committed to providing swift support and resolving any issues related to electrical safety.

She said that if a pole has fallen in a field or a tree branch has fallen on an electric wire due to strong wind during rainy days, immediately inform the Executive Engineer of Jamshedpur, Mango, Ghatshila Electricity Supply Division under East Singhbhum district. Stay away from power lines, transformers and poles etc. during rains. The current can flow in the human body by coming in contact with the above, because earthing is found in the rain. Do not tamper with power lines or transformers. Do not sit or stand under power lines. If there is a spark anywhere or if any wire breaks or current is coming in any pole or earthing set, immediately inform the concerned engineer or electrical sub-station.
