Jamshedpur, May 19: A district-level review meeting on law and order was held at the Collectorate Auditorium in Jamshedpur where Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav and Senior Superintendent of Police addressed various issues related to encroachment, illegal liquor sales, illegal mining and transportation, CCA, NDPS, pending warrants, cybercrime, and more. The meeting aimed to assess the current situation and provide necessary guidance to concerned officials.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that strict action should be taken against encroachment and all municipal bodies were instructed to conduct regular investigation campaigns and impose fines on culprits. Attention was drawn to road accidents caused by illegal parking on the National Highway and the District Transport Officer (DTO) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Traffic were directed to launch an investigation campaign after 8 p.m. Moreover, strict instructions were given to penalize illegal parking of heavy vehicles on the roadside.
To combat encroachment effectively all Circle Officers (COs) were instructed to announce punitive action through public address systems a day prior, inform their seniors, and take necessary action with sufficient police force. It was further emphasized that monthly reviews should be conducted to monitor new cases of encroachment in the nutritious sector and assess the progress made in resolving them. Municipal officials were also tasked with taking effective action against map deviations by conducting regular inspections.
In the fight against illegal liquor production, departmental officers were directed to take decisive action and file FIRs against offenders ensuring their imprisonment. The movement of liquor from other states was to be strictly monitored as well.
Regarding illegal mining and transportation, immediate FIRs were mandated upon vehicle seizures. When a tractor was seized, it was instructed to register the chassis number, engine, and axle details in the FIR. In cases where the electricity department had connections in the name of deceased individuals, awareness campaigns were recommended to inform their families about obtaining new connections.
The meeting also reviewed actions taken under Section 107 and other relevant sections. Detailed discussions were held on pending warrants, CCA, and NDPS cases. In order to monitor cybercrime, police station in-charges were directed to closely monitor WhatsApp groups within their constituencies. Additionally, they were instructed to keep an eye on other social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. It was proposed to hold a Police Station Day on the last Saturday of every month, allowing for the resolution of cases through mutual consent whenever possible.
DFO Mamta Priyadarshi, Rural SP Mukesh Lunayat, SDO Dhalbhum Piyush Sinha, Jail Superintendent, Director DRDA Saurabh Sinha, ADC Jaideep Tigga, ADM Law & Order Deepu Kumar, DTO Dinesh Ranjan, DMO Sanjay Sharma, DPRO Rohit Kumar, all COs, Executive Magistrates, and officials from related departments were present during the review meeting. The comprehensive review meeting highlighted the commitment of the Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police in addressing key law and order issues. The instructions and guidelines provided during the meeting aimed to ensure effective governance, maintain public safety, and uphold the rule of law in the district.
