Jamshedpur DC reviews Lok Sabha poll preparations, to focus on areas with less than 50 percent voting

Vigilance to step up at inter-state check points

Jamshedpur: In anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a review meeting was conducted at the Collectorate Auditorium, Jamshedpur, chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Ananya Mittal. The meeting aimed to assess the progress of various cells involved in election preparations. Key officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police  Kishore Kaushal, Deputy Development Commissioner  Manish Kumar, City SP  Mukesh Lunayat, Rural SP  Rishabh Garg, and SDM Dhalbhum  Piyush Sinha, were present.

Personnel List Submission Deadline: District Magistrate  instructed all offices that haven’t submitted their employee lists to the Personnel Cell to do so by 20th February. Failure to comply would result in accountability measures for office heads.

Action Plans and Progress Monitoring: Clear directives were issued to all cells to formulate action plans and accelerate their activities. Nodal officers were tasked with regular monitoring of work progress, with reviews scheduled every two days.

Physical Verification and Critical Pockets: EROs, AEROs, DSPs, and station in-charges were directed to re-physically verify critical pockets. The meeting extensively discussed critical and non-critical booths, basic facilities in polling stations, sector officer and police officer training, shadow police station identification, manpower assessment, postal ballot status, and training program updates.

Awareness Programs and Voter Confidence Building: The Deputy Development Commissioner emphasized a massive awareness programme scheduled for 21st February to address the low voting percentage in urban areas. Special attention was given to identifying areas with less than 50 percent voting and implementing EVM demonstration and publicity for voter confidence-building.

Law and Order Measures: Senior Superintendent of Police  Kishore Kaushal stressed vigilance at inter-state check points and announced the imminent functionality of inter-district check points. Special monitoring measures were outlined to curb the influence of liquor, money, drugs, or other inducements on voters.

Role of Officials: District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner urged officials to be well-versed in election processes, including access routes, polling station physical verification, election management, voting procedures, EVM and VVPAT operation, model code of conduct, and the roles of various cells.
