Jamshedpur: DC orders swift resolution of public grievances

Jamshedpur: District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan on Tuesday ordered departmental heads to resolve pending civic and social issues during the weekly Public Grievance Redressal Day at the East Singhbhum Collectorate.

Residents from various corners of the district flooded the Collectorate office, submitting formal applications that spanned a wide range of critical civic, legal, and welfare concerns.

The public grievance desk recorded complaints regarding:

  • Welfare & Documentation: Requests for new ration cards, disability certificates, birth certificates, scholarships, and pending disability pensions.
  • Civic Infrastructure: Appeals to restore disconnected electricity and water supply lines, sanitize public toilets, and construct proper neighborhood drainage systems.
  • Legal & Commercial Matters: Disputes over shop allotments, land-related conflicts, family gridlocks, and applications for arms licenses.
  • Education & Healthcare: Seeking admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act and accessing immediate medical assistance funds.

In addition to individual complaints, several citizen delegations submitted formal memorandums regarding larger social and community welfare projects directly to the Deputy Commissioner.

Administration Demands Accountability and Sensitivity

Taking serious note of the heavy influx of complaints, Ranjan directed the government officials to ensure the transparent and time-bound disposal of every case. “The primary objective of this redressal drive rests on providing swift, transparent, and effective solutions to the everyday struggles of our citizens,” Ranjan stated.

He further instructed line departments to approach public grievances with empathy and eliminate unnecessary bureaucratic delays. To expedite relief, the Deputy Commissioner evaluated several cases on the spot, ordering immediate resolutions during the hearing itself.
