Jamshedpur: Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi visited Bodam Block Headquarters on Thursday and held a detailed interaction with members of the Pahadia, Sabar, and Kharia primitive tribal communities. The visit, held at the District Council Building (Dak Bungalow), aimed at understanding and supporting livelihood activities—particularly honey processing—being undertaken by women under the Van Dhan Vikas Kendra initiative.
Accompanied by Deputy Development Commissioner Aniket Sachan and Sub-Divisional Officer (Dhalbhum) Shatabdi Majumdar, the DC emphasized the need to enhance income-generating opportunities and ensure effective implementation of government schemes in tribal-dominated areas. “The objective is to closely understand the efforts of women engaged in honey processing and explore ways to strengthen these initiatives by creating stable and accessible markets,” he said.

The DC acknowledged that while production is underway in areas like Bodam, the major hurdle remains consistent market access. He assured that the district administration, along with teams from JSLPS and other departments, is working to provide institutional support, including training, resources, and marketing linkages.
He instructed officials to prepare schemes that are tailored to the traditional skills and local resources of the tribal population. “We must ensure their work receives both recognition and economic return,” he added.
Present during the visit were BDO Kiku Mahato, Circle Officer Ranjit Ranjan, DPM JSLPS Sujit Bari, and other officials. The visit concluded with renewed directives to promote sustainable livelihoods and to improve the socio-economic status of primitive tribal families through targeted development strategies.
