Jamshedpur DC inspects rain-hit Mango, control room comes up

Jamshedpur: In the wake of continuous heavy rainfall, Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi conducted an inspection of flood-prone and waterlogged areas in Mango on Monday. Accompanied by Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar, he reviewed the drainage systems in low-lying localities and sensitive stretches along the Swarnarekha river.

The Deputy Commissioner directed municipal officials to ensure that pump sets, tractors, and sanitation teams remain on standby to respond swiftly to any emergency. He emphasized the need for regular cleaning of drains, prompt resolution of waterlogging complaints, and proactive communication with residents living near the river.

To coordinate relief measures, the Mango Municipal Corporation has set up a dedicated control room operating round the clock. Residents can call the helpline numbers—7004549847 (6am–2pm), 9031542938 (2pm–10pm), and 7488676759 (10pm–6am)—for assistance.

Appealing for public cooperation, Satyarthi urged people not to believe in rumours, avoid visiting riverbanks, and follow all advisories issued by the administration. He assured that the district administration is closely monitoring the situation and fully prepared to manage any crisis. For district-level emergencies, residents may contact 0657-2444233.
