Jamshedpur: As part of the preparations for the upcoming Assembly Elections 2024, a four-day training program for Presiding Officers and Polling Officers (P1) commenced today at Women’s University, Sidgora. District Election Officer Ananya Mittal addressed the trainees, stressing the importance of understanding their responsibilities and the quality of training provided.
During his address, Mittal emphasized the necessity of strict adherence to election protocols, urging all attendees to remain present for mandatory training sessions. “The better the training, the smoother the voting process will be,” he said, underlining the critical role that presiding and polling officers play on election day.
The training covered hands-on instruction on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) system. Trainees were encouraged to thoroughly study the material presented by the Master Trainer and to seek clarification on any doubts. Sessions included practical demonstrations on the entire polling process, from initiating the voting procedure to sealing control units and VVPATs after polling.
Trainees participated in small group discussions to gain detailed insights into the operation of EVMs, ensuring they are well-prepared for their roles. The training also included a PowerPoint presentation detailing the duties and responsibilities of presiding officers, providing comprehensive guidelines for all participants.
Prominent figures in attendance included PD ITDA Dipankar Choudhary, Executive Magistrate Mrityunjay Kumar, and Executive Officer of the District Council Dr. Rajnikant Mishra, all reinforcing the importance of thorough training for a successful election.
