Jamshedpur DC directs for coordinated steps to curb illegal mining 

Jamshedpur, July 21: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner directed the district mining officers to take effective action against violators by coordinating with officers in neighbouring Odisha and Bengal and other districts. 

In the meeting of the district mining task force, deputy commissioner Vijaya Jadhav reviewed the action taken so far in the district regarding illegal mining, transportation and storage of minerals. In order to review the action taken and the FIR registered, Circle Officer Mango said that five raids and three FIRs were lodged by him, five in Potka, four in Baharagora, Bodam – two , Dhalbhumgarh- three, Chakulia one, Patmada three, Ghatshila two and Jamshedpur Sadar two  FIRs were also registered by the Circle Officer. At the same time, 10 FIRs were registered by the Mining Department and nine FIRs by the Circle Officers last month.

Vijaya Jadhav directed to keep a special watch on the checkpoints, take effective action against the vehicle operators who are illegally transporting minerals without valid documents. The District Mining Officer was asked to work in coordination with the concerned officials of all the districts adjoining to his district and the districts of Bengal and Odisha, whose border is linked with the district. 

The deputy commissioner also talked about strengthening the intelligence network and  directed for mandatory deployment of officers/personnel of forest department along with district and police administration in joint investigation team. The Deputy Commissioner directed the District Task Force to systematically take necessary initiatives to stop illegal mining, transportation of minerals. While discussing various points of preventing illegal mining, storage and transportation, felling of trees in the district, he directed the Divisional Forest Officer, District Mining Officer, Circle Officers and police station officers of the blocks to conduct surprise raids by coordinating among themselves, so that illegal Mining and felling of trees can be completely curbed.

 Baharagora and Chakulia CO were directed by the Deputy Commissioner to take action by establishing better coordination among themselves. He said that both these blocks are very important from the geographical point of view where intensive action is necessary against illegal mineral transport. 

Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar said that there should be no lack in mutual coordination, with the collective efforts of all the departments, illegal mining and transportation has to be stopped. 

If there is any laxity in registering the FIR by any station in-charge, then immediately inform the higher authorities. 

He also gave clear instructions to the investigation team to check with the barrier without taking any risk. Along with this, instructions have been given to take action against illegal operation of brick kilns and to take action to land illegal crushers. He also directed to conduct surprise checks of vehicles carrying illegal mining and mineral transportation and also to conduct regular check-up campaigns against illegal lifting of sand.
