Jamshedpur, Nov 26: Former Jharkhand Minister and president of Jharkhand Mazdoor Union Dulal Bhuiyan who went in a procession and sought to meet Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar was declined permission directing the JMM leader to get his COVID-19 test done. This irked Dulal Bhuinya who sat on protest at the office with the other union members.

There was word that the administration was contemplating filing a case under disaster management clauses. If this happens it would be the first instance that action would be taken against a JMM leader. Prior to Wednesday’s protest, other JMM leaders and activists including JMM district president and Ghatshila legislator Ramdas Soren, Jugsalai legislator Mangal Kalindi, Potka MLA Sanjiv Sardar too had participated in protest demonstrations at the DC’s office but no action was taken against them.

Dulal Bhuinya stated that his being a former state minister and not being allowed to meet the Deputy Commissioner was humiliating. He said that he had gone along with other labourers to demand the intervention of the district administration so that workers laid off during the lockdown period be absorbed in Tata and other industrial concerns so that they could be economically rehabilitated. He said that the district administration should make some arrangements for these people who had lost their jobs during the lockdown period. “The district administration should have shown more compassion and consideration for these people,” Dulal stated.
