Jamshedpur DC appeals for boycott of single-use plastic

Attends Gram Sabha in Medhiya panchayat of Mosabani

Jamshedpur, Sept 11: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla appealed to people to completely boycott single-use plastic once and for all. He also asked them to spread awareness among others to make them aware of their duties toward environment conservation.

Addressing a Gram Sabha meeting in Medhiya panchayat of Mosabani, Shukla said a public movement was necessary for the successful boycott of single-use plastic. He said the campaign should be made successful on the lines of the open defecation free (ODF) campaign.

The DC provided a wheel chair to a differently-abled person during the Gram Sabha. He planted a sapling and also met students at Bidu Chandna library situated near the panchayat building.

Others present during the programme included BDO cum CO of Mosabani Santosh Gupta, DSP Mosabani Pitamber Khairwal, Zila Parishad member Budheshwar Murmu, Gram Pradhan Vikram Hansda, Mukhiya Rajesh Kisku, Panchayat Secretary Dilip Giri and block programme officer Sanjay Sinha.
