Gamharia, Sept 2: A cyclist, Tirala village resident, Shiv Charan Patro (55) was killed when an unknown vehicle hit him and escaped from the scene. The accident occurred near Tirala Nala under Gamharia police station at 5 am on Saturday. According to the victim’s son, Arun Patro, Shiv Charan Patro worked at Auto Profile, a company in Gamharia. The Gamharia police arrived at the spot and sent the body for post mortem at Saraikela Sadar Hospital.
Arun informed that around 5 am on Saturday, his father had left for duty on his bicycle. While on his way, he was hit by an unidentified vehicle near the canal and the driver fled the scene with the car. By the time the villagers arrived at the scene, the victim had already died. The Gamharia police station was informed and they took custody of the body and sent it for autopsy at Saraikela Sadar Hospital.
