Jamshedpur Crime Upswing: SSP Transfers 43 Traffic Police Officers

Jamshedpur: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Ehtesham Waquarib has transferred 43 traffic police officers and several personnel to curb rising crime in the city. The move comes in the backdrop of the murder of Karni Sena leader Himanshu Singh, who was stabbed in front of police personnel.

Shift from Routine Checks to Crime Control

In light of the crisis, routine helmet-checking drives across the city have been temporarily suspended as the entire police force redirects its focus toward crime prevention and active policing.

According to official sources, many of the transferred officers and jawans had been stationed in their respective traffic departments for a prolonged period. Under the new directives issued by SSP Dr. Waquarib, these personnel have been redeployed to:

  • Various regional police stations across the district
  • The centralized Crime Control Room
  • The Police Lines

Furthermore, to address the acute shortage of manpower during crucial night patrols, five jawans/constables from traffic police stations are being reassigned to various local police stations.

Deployment Ordered

All transferred officers have been instructed to report to their newly designated police stations and assume their duties with immediate effect.

While the Jamshedpur police remain on high alert with round-the-clock patrolling to restore public confidence, officials acknowledge that containing the city’s shifting crime dynamics remains an uphill task as criminals continue to challenge law enforcement.
