Jamshedpur Crime: Thieves steal Rs 15.36 lakh from two ATMs in Baharagora

Jamshedpur, June 8: Three thieves stole away cash worth Rs 15.36 lakh from two ATMs in just 25 minutes under Baharagora main market in the wee hours of Wednesday, sources said.

According to sources, the thieves first cut an ATM in Jharpokharia police station area situated on the Jharkhand-Odisha borders and stole away Rs 2.5 lakh. After 20 minutes, the thieves targeted the ATM machine of Bank of India at Baharagora main market situated just 200 metres away from Baharagora police station. The culprits opened the ATM with the help of a cutter and stole Rs 12.86 lakh kept inside, sources said.

On getting information about the thefts, ATM channel manager Rajesh Mishra visited the scene. DSP Ghatsila Kuldeep and DSP Sarthak Rai of Udla Sub Division of Odisha visited the scene and investigated the crime. CCTV footages were taken out to identify the culprits.

According to the DSP, the bank officials from Mumbai informed Baharagora police station about the incident around 4.49 am. They said the thieves came to the ATMs in a Hyundai Skoda car.
