Jamshedpur, Aug 16: City police arrested six members of a gang of vehicle lifters and confiscated four two-wheelers and spare parts from their possession.
Those arrested were identified as Shadab Anwar, Mohammad Shahid, Arbaz Ahmad Khan, Aftab Hussain, Mohammad Tariq Asraf and Mahboob Alam.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), East Singhbhum, Prabhat Kumar, those arrested used to steal bikes and scooties from different parts of the city and later sell them to clients for lesser values.
“On 8th August last, the bike of one Meraz Ansari was stolen. During investigation, Arbaz Khan was arrested and on his information, we seized a bike, one scooty and parts of bike. Mahboob and other accused were arrested thereafter,” said the SSP.
According to the SSP, the accused persons used to prepare forged documents of stolen vehicles in order to sell them.
