The dacoity reportedly took place after midnight when the dacoits barged into the scrap yard and threatened the security personnel. They loaded the scrap on a van and fled the scene before the security guards could inform police about the incident.

Police said the security guards have identified some of the dacoits. A case has been lodged against the culprits on the information of Vijay Kumar Sharma, resident of Agrico. Those booked include Prakash Thakur, Nagina, Raju, Jai, Kitu, Vivek, Karmvir, Ravi, Mahendra, Dengu, Baka, Langda and Bobby, sources said.

Sharma said the dacoits gained entry into the scrapyard by persuading the security personnel to open the gates by giving false excuse. The guards were taken hostage till the scrap was loaded on the van and taken away.
