Jamshedpur, July 18: Unidentified criminals snatched a gold chain from Suniti Devi, mother of the newly-elected Zila Parishad member from Govindpur, Dr Paritosh Singh, near her house on Monday.
Sources said the culprits, two in number, intercepted Suniti Devi when she was walking towards her home from Govindpur Ram Mandir around 9 am. One of the two bike-borne miscreants, pretended to have some query and snatched the victim’s chain before she could understand anything. Both culprits wore helmets. The entire incident was captured by a CCTV camera installed near the crime scene, sources said.
Police officials reached the scene and began a probe into the incident. They said the culprits snatched the chain when the victim took a turn towards her lane from the main road. Suniti Devi raised an alarm but the culprits easily decamped after crossing the railway crossing.
According to Dr Paritosh, this is the fifth loot incident in Govindpur in the last 10 days. He said in most cases, FIR was not registered.
