Jamshedpur Crime: Accused surrenders in Swarnarekha Colony murder case

Jamshedpur, May 5: Rajesh Kumar, accused in the sensational Rekha Rani Mahato murder case of Adityapur, surrendered before a court in Seraikela-Kharsawan on Thursday. He was sent to judicial custody.

Police officials said they would be taking Rajesh on remand to interrogate him in connection with the murder.

Rekha Rani Mahato was found brutally murdered in a quarter at C Block, Swarnarekha Colony, under Adityapur PS on 14th April last. She was killed with sharp weapons as her throat was found slit open with blood all-around at her apartment late in the night. Her family members accused Rajesh of having killed her.

Rajesh reportedly claims to be Rekha’s husband. He killed Rekha to stop her from marrying anyone else, Anima, sister of the deceased had told police.

Rajesh was at large after the murder. Police were searching for him at his suspected hideouts.
