Jamshedpur, April 28: The court of Jamshedpur sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) Bankim Chandra Chatterjee refused to hear health minister’s Banna Gupta defamation suit against Saryu Roy and instead suggested for approaching MP-MLA Court in Chaibasa, West Singhbhum.
Incidentally, Banna Gupta had filed a defamation suit against Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy who has been making allegation of wrongdoings in Covid incentive amount case. The health minister’s lawyer Sanjay Mishra Mishra had given notice to MLA Saryu Rai on April 22. It was written that if Saryu Rai does not apologize to the minister within three days, then legal action will be taken. Saryu Rai had said that the notice was not worth replying to and had challenged Banna Gupta to take the matter to court.
After this, Banna Gupta himself went to the Jamshedpur Court on Monday, 25 April and filed a complaint of defamation against Saryu Rai in the CJM Court under Section 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code. The matter was heard in the court on Thursday, 28 April. The Health Minister got ready and reached the court early in the morning, but the court of SDJM Bankim Chandra Chatterjee said that the matter cannot be heard here.
The court advised the minister to approach the MP-MLA court at Chaibasa, the district headquarters of West Singhbhum. This disappointed the minister and his supporters. On the other hand, Saryu Rai has also said that he will now make the court aware of the full facts. Saryu had written a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren in this matter, which has full details.
According to MLA Saryu Roy, the health minister has ordered the unauthorized workers including himself to be paid the Covid incentive amount and for this the corrupt, criminal and corrupt process has been adopted.
