Jamshedpur, April 2: In the ongoing investigation of the Kuni Gope alias Poonam murder case, the court has taken a significant step by stopping the salary of Ulidih OP in-charge, Amit Kumar. Presided over by ADJ-2 Abhash Kumar Verma, the court ordered a halt on Amit Kumar’s salary, directing the SSP and DGP of the district to enforce the decision.

Despite the completion of testimony by all nine witnesses in the case, crucial items seized by the police have not been presented before the court. Consequently, the court issued a letter to the OP in-charge, urging the presentation of the seized items. Despite assurances from the OP in-charge, the seized goods were not produced before the court on the specified date, prompting the court to take serious action.

The case revolves around the tragic events of January 17, 2022, when Ashok Gorai, the husband of the deceased Kuni Gop alias Poonam, allegedly committed the heinous act. The deceased’s brother, Bagan Khandait, lodged an FIR against Ashok Gorai at the Ulidih police station, detailing the events leading up to the incident.

The court’s decision to halt Amit Kumar’s salary underscores the importance of presenting crucial evidence in due time. Despite the completion of testimony, the case remains unresolved until the seized items are presented before the court. The delay in presenting key evidence has led to this significant action from the judiciary, emphasizing the importance of expeditious proceedings in criminal cases.
