Jamshedpur, April 28: A couple, identified as Vibhuti Das and Puja Das, died in a tragic road accident on the Tata-Seraikela road near Kandra on Thursday, police said.
Sources said the mishap occurred when a speeding truck trailer ran over the couple near a turn on the road. The couple was returning from a wedding ceremony in Silli on a motorcycle. They succumbed to critical injuries at the scene as the truck knocked down the bike and crushed them.
Sources said the truck driver had lost control over the vehicle due to high speed. A police escort team rushed to the scene and sent the victims to Sadar Hospital. The victims were pronounced brought dead.
Local residents caught the errant driver and handed him over to the police.
