Jamshedpur, May 12: The district administration has decided to provide 10,000 doses of vaccines to 18 years and above of age in the coming two days on May 14 and 15. To complete the task the administration has set up two centres in urban areas and 11 centres in rural areas. Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee ( JNAC) has also set up a centre at Loyola School. From May 14 to 18, 1000 doses of Covishield will be provided to 1000 people. While in another centre at Tata Workers’ Union School, 500 doses will be given. A total of 13 centres will administer vaccines. Till today 229562 vaccines have been administered in the district.

An official of the health department said that as per Government’s guidelines those aged between 18 and above can register. “As per the guidelines received, they can choose either a government facility or a private hospital. While the vaccination will be for free of cost at government facilities,” he said.
To ensure Covid protocol, police personnel have been deployed in each centre. Arrangements have been made for facilitating vaccination for 100 people at each centre. The State government earlier announced that the government hospitals will carry out the vaccination drive at no cost.
The Union Health Ministry has announced the nationwide vaccination program to all citizens above 18 years of age.
Corona vaccination kicked off on 16 January in East Singhbhum district. Gradually the number of corona patients is also decreasing. On March 1, the drive was expanded to senior citizens above the age of 60 years and those above 45 with co-morbidities. On April 1, it was widened to all above the age of 45.On May 1, 18 years and above were applicable. Covid recoveries have outnumbered daily Covid cases raising a ray of hope. A day after 1015 positive cases were reported, the city recorded 530 positive cases against 865 recoveries on Tuesday and 14 deaths, East Singhbhum Covid report said. During this period, a total of 5263 Covid tests were conducted in Jamshedpur.
