Jamshedpur Coronavirus tally reaches 272

34 new cases, no community transmission of COVID-19 in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, /Ranchi, June 16: Jharkhand on Tuesday reported 34 new cases taking the state tally to 1841. Simdega reported 24 cases, 3 came up from Ranchi, 2 each from Jamshedpur and Ramgarh, 1 each from Garhwa, Lohardaga and Gumla. One thousand people have recovered from the disease while 9 people have died. In Jamshedpur the Coronavirus positive tally has reached 272 after were tested positive on Tuesday, June 16.

In Jharkhand, there has been no percentage prevalence of community transmission found in the Sero-Survey conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in three districts of the state. Based on the reports received by ICMR, there is no community transmission of COVID-19 in Jharkhand.

Principal Heath Secretary Dr Nitin Kulkarni told AIR News that three districts of Jharkhand Pakur, Latehar and Simdega out of 200 districts from across the country were selected for Sero-Survey to detect the spread of COVID-19 infection in specific regions. He said that the results show that there is zero transmission in Latehar, 1.25 per cent in Pakur and one per cent in Simdega, which is an insignificant number to establish the prevalence of viral spread.


However, the Health Secretary has requested ICMR to conduct such surveys in all the districts of the state to ascertain the prevalence of viral spread across the state. The results show better immunity power in denizens of the state. Recovery rate in patients of COVID-19 further improved to 55.92 per cent.  Trebling in 15 days, the number of coronavirus cases has reached 1,841 in Jharkhand. It was around 600 till June 1. With 1,047 patients cured, the recovery rate has increased to 55.77 per cent. Nine people have succumbed to coronavirus in the state.

Of the 1,841 cases, migrant workers returning from various coronavirus hotspots in the country, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi and Tamil Nadu, accounted for 1,479 cases.

On Monday 95 more people were also discharged from dedicated Covid-19 facilities. Of this, 32 were discharged in Simdega, 19 in Ramgarh, 13 in Gumla, 12 in Palamu, 11 in Pakur, 3 in Khunti, 2 each in Lohardaga and Chatra, and one in Giridih.

Jharkhand reported its first coronavirus case on March 31 as a Malaysian woman tested Covid-19 positive.

Jharkhand has collected 1,09,740 samples and tested 1,08,576 of them.

As per the health department data, the number of asymptomatic travellers under surveillance was 5,550. So far, 4,276 have completed 28-day compulsory observation.

There are 45,322 people at quarantine facilities and 2,97,018 in home quarantine in the state.
