Jamshedpur: Contract workers suicide

Jamshedpur, May 2:  Swadhin Das (35), a contract laborer working in Tata Company’s Nalco production plant, committed suicide by hanging himself in the company premises. Swadhin was a resident of Bhojpur Colony Vaishalinagar Donga Ghat Baridih township of Sidgora police station area.

The workers of the plant came to know about the incident after 8 am on Monday morning when they reached the company on general shift duty. Meanwhile, Swadhin was hanged from the fan. After this, the information about the incident was given to the senior officials of the company.

The laborer had gone for night shift duty. It was told about the laborer Swadhin Das that he had gone to do B shift duty. He used to work as a laborer in the company NALCO. Presently he used to work in the production plant. Swadhin’s father Durgacharan Das told that he had gone on duty of B shift.

 At 10 in the night he got a call that Govinda had not come on duty. In such a situation, pressure is being created to work on him. His father says that he was not ready for C shift duty. May be he is under stress.

According to Swadhin’s father, he was working in the company for the last 8 years. He was not even married yet. Apart from parents, there are also three brothers in the house. Swadhin was the elder of the house.

Talks are also going on with the manager of the company regarding this at Bishtupur police station and the body will sent for post mortem as part of police investigation.
