Jamshedpur, August 26: Hundreds of Congress workers, led by East Singhbhum District Congress Executive President (City) Dharmendra Sonkar, protested at the Sakchi roundabout against the demolition notices issued to approximately 150 houses in Kalyan Nagar, Chhayanagar, and Indiranagar in Bhuinyadih. The protesters burned effigies of Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy and former Union Minister Arjun Munda.

Former MP and senior Congress leader Dr. Ajoy Kumar had previously stated in a press conference that the initial complaint against these 150 houses was filed on August 30, 2023, with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) by BJP leader and the then Union Tribal Affairs Minister, Arjun Munda, a close associate of Saryu Roy.

Speaking to the media after the effigy burning, Dharmendra Sonkar accused Saryu Roy of attempting to divert attention from his responsibilities. He alleged that Saryu Roy and his party were shielding Arjun Munda and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the origins of the case. Sonkar urged the public to scrutinize what was being concealed.

Other Congress members who participated in the protest included Bablu Jha, Rakesh Sahu, Sushila Pandey, Seema Mohanty, Dev Sharan Singh, Ajay Mahato, Surendra Sharma, ARK Kamlesh, Neeraj Sah, and others.
