As part of its commitment to public health and community welfare, Tata Steel UISL is playing an active role in the National Immunization Day – Pulse Polio Programme, which begins on 25th August 2024. In collaboration with local health authorities and community partners, Tata Steel UISL has established 415 polio vaccination booths across strategic locations in Jamshedpur, including health centres, schools, bus stops, and marketplaces. These efforts are aimed at ensuring comprehensive immunization coverage for approximately 75,000 children in the region.

Each booth is staffed with two trained vaccinators and is equipped with the necessary medical supplies to ensure efficient service delivery. To address remote and hard-to-reach areas, mobile units have been deployed to ensure no child is left out. Special attention has been given to maintaining the cold chain for vaccine potency, with 1,660 ice boxes and 400 vaccine carriers allocated for the drive. The entire operation is overseen by 41 supervisors, who are tasked with monitoring vaccine temperatures and distribution.

The first phase of the campaign will be conducted on 25th August 2024, with additional house-to-house coverage scheduled for 26th and 27th August 2024 to reach children who may have been missed during the initial drive.

Tata Steel UISL remains committed to contributing to public health initiatives and ensuring the well-being of the communities it serves. Through this campaign, the company aims to support the government’s goal of eradicating polio and protecting future generations from this preventable disease.
