Jharkhand High Court questions DCs on Bangladeshi infiltration, decline in tribal population

Ranchi, August 26: The Jharkhand High Court has raised concerns over affidavits submitted by the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) from six Santal districts regarding Bangladeshi infiltration and the declining tribal population. The court expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of information on these issues and criticized the delay in responses from Central Government agencies.

During the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Daniel Danish, the division bench led by Chief Justice Arun Kumar Rai questioned the DCs and SPs’ claims of no Bangladeshi infiltration and their failure to address the reasons behind the decrease in the tribal population. The court has set September 5 as the next date for hearing the case and has directed the authorities to provide detailed explanations and documentation on Aadhaar and Voter ID card processing.
