Jamshedpur, Sep 8: A two-day conference on the ‘Base Metal Sector in India’ was organized by the Industry All Global Union in Salt Lake, Kolkata. The event brought together industry representatives from various states to discuss critical issues impacting the base metal sector. Topics such as the global and national status of the base metal industry, government policies, production trends, employment, migrant labourers, and safety were thoroughly explored.
The conference, conducted by Praveen Rao and Ashutosh Bhattacharjee, saw participation from key figures including Balasubramaniam, General Secretary of All India Steel, Metal, Mines Federation Raghunath Pandey, and Tin Plate Union General Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh. Vice President Parbinder Singh Sohal, along with Shyam Babu from Tata Workers Union, Vansh Bahadur Singh, Harjeet Singh, Rajat Dixit, and other delegates from across the country, were also present. The discussions aimed to address the challenges and opportunities in the base metal sector, emphasizing industry safety and the situation of migrant labourers.
