Jamshedpur: CoBRA jawan injured in IED blast at West Singhbhum 

Jamshedpur, Dec 10: The ultras of banned outfit CPI (Maoists) made their presence felt by triggering IED blast injuring one CRPF jawan. An IED exploded while he along with his fellow troopers were carrying out an anti-insurgency operation under the Tonto police station area in West Singhbhum district on Saturday morning.

The injured who is a CoBRA jawan, Prabhakar Sahani (31), was airlifted to RIMS from Rengda jungle in West Singhbhum’s Tonto police station area where the explosion was triggered.

The jawan has been admitted to Bhagwan Mahavir Medica Superspecialty Hospital,  after he was airlifted from the spot, informed that currently, his condition is stable.

Incidentally, the CRPF’s 60 battalion which was engaged in a search operation in the Naxal-infested Porahat sub-division in the district succeeded to unearth 10 IEDs under the Goelkera  area in the morning.

The IEDs were planted in series on a road at Gitilipi village under Kuida Panchayat in Goelkera, with a plot to inflict casualties on the paramilitary personnel who do often use the stretch during anti-insurgency operations there.

According to police, the recovered IEDs were later blown up at a secluded place in the Goelkera forest.

Sources informed that the mobility of the police has prevented the extremists from carrying out any violent activity in past few days in the entire Kolhan. All the police stations in the three districts of  the division including East and West Singhbhum and Seraikela Kharswan have been asked to beef up the security and keep a vigil at the bordering areas.
