Jamshedpur, June 22: In a recent reshuffle within the Central Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (CGPC), Gurcharan Singh Billa has been appointed as the General Secretary upon the special request of Surjit Singh Khushipur, while Khushipur himself will assume the role of Chief Advisor. The CGPC chief, Sardar Bhagwan Singh, officially announced these changes on Thursday.
Tara Singh, the head of Sonari Gurdwara, has been appointed as the Vice President, and Taj Singh, a resident of Baradwari, has been designated as an Advisor by the CGPC.
During a ceremony held at the CGPC office, President Bhagwan Singh presented a shawl to Gurcharan Singh Billa, welcoming him as the new General Secretary. The event was attended by Treasurer Gurnam Singh Bedi, Kulwinder Singh Pannu, Surjit Singh Khushipur, Kuldeep Singh Bugga, Sukhdev Singh Bittu, Amarjit Singh, Surender Singh Chhinde, and Trilochan Singh Tochi.
It has been reported that the former General Secretary, Sardar Surjit Singh Khushipur, expressed his inability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position due to time constraints and family commitments. In a letter addressed to the CGPC, he recommended Gurcharan Singh Billa as his successor for the role of General Secretary. Recognizing Khushipur’s situation, President Bhagwan Singh approved the appointment of Gurcharan Singh Billa after discussions with other committee members. Expressing his gratitude, newly appointed General Secretary Gurcharan Singh Billa affirmed his commitment to fulfilling his responsibilities with utmost dedication and accountability.
