Jamshedpur: A special programme promoting patriotism, discipline, social harmony and excellence was jointly organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Purva Sainik Seva Parishad and Kreeda Bharati, Jamshedpur, at the JNAC Auditorium in Sakchi on Sunday evening. The event brought together ex-servicemen, social workers, sports enthusiasts and prominent citizens, who emphasized the importance of nation-building and inspiring the younger generation to contribute positively to society.
The programme highlighted the recent achievements of Indian athletics, with speakers expressing pride over the historic success of sprinter Gurindervir Singh. They noted that at the 2026 Athletics Federation Cup, Gurindervir Singh clocked an impressive 10.09 seconds in the men’s 100-metre race, setting a new national record and winning the gold medal. With this feat, he became the first Indian athlete to break the 10.10-second barrier in the event. Participants described the achievement as a landmark moment in Indian sporting history and a source of inspiration for young athletes across the country.
Addressing the gathering, speakers said ex-servicemen remain invaluable assets to the nation. Even after dedicating significant years of their lives to serving the country in the armed forces, they continue to contribute actively to social development and nation-building initiatives. The Parishad regularly conducts service activities, security awareness campaigns, youth guidance programmes, environmental conservation drives and various social welfare initiatives.
The dignitaries paid tribute to the sacrifices, dedication and discipline of former soldiers and urged young people to place national interest above all else. They stressed that excellence in sports, education, science and social service can help India achieve greater heights of progress and development.
Kreeda Bharati Jharkhand General Secretary Rajeev Kumar said that Gurindervir Singh’s record-breaking performance and the inspiring lives of ex-servicemen share common values—discipline, commitment, hard work and unwavering devotion to the nation. He added that these qualities would play a crucial role in driving India toward new milestones of growth and achievement.
