Jamshedpur: The city witnessed vibrant and spiritual celebrations on the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, marking the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism.

The day began with a wave of devotion as hundreds of devotees participated in a grand procession that was taken out in the Bistupur area.

Dressed in traditional attire, men, women, and children joined the religious procession, which included beautifully decorated tableaux depicting scenes from Lord Mahavir’s life and teachings.

Chanting of Jain hymns and slogans promoting non-violence, truth, and compassion echoed through the streets as the procession passed through key routes in the city, spreading a message of peace and harmony.

Various rituals and religious ceremonies were performed at local Jain temples, where devotees gathered in large numbers.

The temples were adorned with flowers, colorful lights, and decorative rangolis. Special prayers, abhishekam (ceremonial bathing of the idol), and pravachan (spiritual discourses) were organized to mark the occasion.

At the Bistupur Jain Temple, spiritual leaders and scholars spoke about the teachings of Lord Mahavir, emphasizing the relevance of his principles—ahimsa (non-violence), satya (truth), asteya (non-stealing), brahmacharya (celibacy), and aparigraha (non-possessiveness)—in today’s world.

Community members also engaged in charitable activities, including distribution of food, clothing, and medicines to the needy, reflecting the spirit of selfless service that is central to Jain philosophy.

The entire city joined in the celebration with a spirit of unity and reverence, making Mahavir Jayanti a memorable and spiritually uplifting day for all.
