Jamshedpur, January 6: The much looked-forward-to three day event, Jamshedpur Carnival, got off to a rollicking start at the Gopal Maidan on Friday, January 6 with local music band of Rozario setting the seatbelts of entertainment free. People of all ages had a gala time right from 5:30 pm when the group pulled the first string of the bass guitar. Since then, the scene at the Gopal Maidan took on exciting hues of unbridled joy in spite of the growing evening chill that seemed to go unfelt.
The three-day Jamshedpur Carnival is being organized jointly by Tata Steel and Tata Steel UISL. With moods upbeat with Rozario’s Band there was no slackening of heady music as the reputed Swarathma Band from Bengaluru presented the music that has made them ‘maddeningly’ popular with people across ther country and beyond. Swarathma took over the pulse beats control from 7:30 pm and ensured growing frenzy, already at its peak, till 9 pm.

Swarathma is a Bangalore-based Indian Folk/fusion band that creates its music from folk, classical and blend of western classical, blues, rock and reggae. The lyrics are inspired by personal journeys, feelings and socio-political observations.. The current band lineup features Vasu Dixit (vocals and rhythm guitar), K J Pavan (percussion and vocals), Varun Murali (guitar and vocals), Sanjeev Nayak (violin and vocals), Jishnu Dasgupta (bass guitar and vocals) and Joel Milan Baptist (drums).
An additional piece of knowledge and entertainment in the Carnival chart will be ‘Know Your Army that will be organized on Saturday and Sunday.
On the second day of Carnival mood on Saturday, Colours of India Colours of India will showcase folk dances of 14 Indian States to be performed by 388 children and citizens of Jamshedpur from 5 pm to 7pm.
This will be followed by SaReGaMa from 7:30pm onwards. A Musical Antakshari Competition for children will add to the excitement of the evening.
On the concluding day (January 8) Master Chef competition will be held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. In the evening Rap Band will perform from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm followed by celebrity Bollywood singer Neeraj Shridhar’s performance from 7:30pm to 9:00pm.
Jamshedpur Carnival is open to all and entry to Gopal Maidan will be free on all three days.
One of the organizers said, “Jamshedpur Carnival is an ambitious initiative to bring the citizens of the city on a common platform and engage them in different activities. “The administration is also supporting our initiative and we plan to make it a grand event with added vibrant activities.”
