Jamshedpur Candidates required to disclose criminal records in Lok Sabha elections: DEO

Jamshedpur, April 29:  Ananya Mittal, the District Election Officer (DEO), announced that candidates contesting the Lok Sabha elections must publicly disclose any criminal records they may have. Candidates were mandated to provide comprehensive information about their criminal cases, accompanied by an affidavit in Form 26. Additionally, they must inform their respective political parties about these cases, who are then obligated to publish this information on their official websites.

In addition, after filing their nominations, candidates and their political parties were required to publicize information regarding any criminal cases at least thrice in newspapers and TV channels. This measure aimed to provide voters with ample opportunity to learn about the backgrounds of the candidates.
