Jamshedpur: Sardar Jyoti Singh Matharu, Vice Chairman of the Jharkhand State Minority Commission, was honoured by the Burmamines Gurudwara Committee in Ranchi on Wednesday for his contributions to the Jharkhand Nirman Andolan.
According to Sardar Satbir Singh Somu, Jyoti Singh Matharu played a significant role in the Jharkhand statehood movement, and his efforts have been officially recognized by the Hemant Soren government, identifying him as an agitator. The Sikh community of Jharkhand expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Hemant Soren for acknowledging Matharu’s contributions and congratulated him on this recognition.
“By actively participating in the movement and taking risks, Jyoti Singh Matharu has made the Sikh community proud,” said Somu.
To honour his dedication, former Akali Dal President Sardar Ravinder Singh Khalsa and other committee members presented him with a bouquet and draped him in a shawl as a token of appreciation.
The event was attended by several prominent members of the Burmamines Gurudwara Committee, including Sardar Sukhpal Singh, Harbhajan Singh, and Dalvinder Singh, who commended Matharu’s commitment to the cause of Jharkhand’s statehood and his continued service to the community.
