Jamshedpur, June 16: Adityapur police arrested two persons including a minor with 30 packets of brown sugar on Thursday. The accused persons were caught near Muslim Basti Imambara, sources said.
Police also confiscated a motorcycle reportedly used by the accused persons.
According to Rajan Kumar, officer-in-charge of Adityapur, “One of the accused, Sheikh Mubarak was arrested with brown sugar. He had engaged the minor in the illegal activity. We have sent the minor to Observation Home and Sheikh Mubarak to judicial custody.”
Kumar said the police had launched an intensive drive against rackets supplying brown sugar to clients in and around Adityapur. He said police teams are working on the basis of tip-offs and so far many people have been arrested for dealing in brown sugar.
