Trust your abilities, work hard towards your goal, says the topper

Jamshedpur, Sep 11: The Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Bombay declared the JEE Advanced 2022 Result on Sunday, September 11.

Devraj Karmakar of Kadma has secured all India rank 145 in JEE Advanced by getting 228 marks out of 360. He has become Kolhan topper. He got 88 marks in Chemistry, 41 in Mathematics and 98 in Physics.

Jubilant over his success, Devraj attributes his success to his teachers and parents who left no stone unturned to support his studies.

Altogether 811 students had appeared in JEE Advance in the city and 120 of them succeeded, sources said.

Devraj did his 10th and 12th Board from DBMS Kadma High School. Always a meritorious student, he had secured 556th rank in JEE Main at all India level.

Brilliant, focussed, well- disciplined and humble student Devraj believes firmly that there is indeed no substitute to hard work and perseverance. 

“I was sure of my success. Students should trust their abilities and keep working hard. Success will come. One should not be disappointed by failure and continue moving towards the goal,” said Devraj, who never counted his study hours and worked with a goal-oriented approach and a fixed routine.

The topper is not active on social media and only used Youtube for studies. After getting a rank below 150, he dreams of studying Computer Science in any of the top five IITs across India. He had also secured seventh rank in West Bengal engineering entrance exam. “Getting admission in IIT Bombay would be difficult as only those within top 60 get admission there,” he said.

Devraj’s father Rajesh Karmakar is posted as Cluster Resource Person (CRP) at Thakker Bappa School while his mother Pampa Karmakar is a homemaker. “We never compromised with our son’s education and academic goal. He was just asked to focus on his studies and he followed it. Today our dream has come true,” said a proud Rajesh.

Bombay zone’s R K Shishir has bagged the top rank in the IIT entrance exam JEE-Advanced.

According to IIT Bombay, which conducted the exam, R.K. Shishir secured 314 out of 360 marks.

Tanishka Kabra from the Delhi zone is the topper among females with 277 marks. Her all-India rank is 16.
