Jamshedpur boy Abhijeet Sharma tops Jharkhand in JAC Class X

Jamshedpur, June 21: Abhijeet Sharma of Ramakrishna Mission English School, Bistupur, has brought laurels to his alma mater by becoming Jharkhand topper in the matriculation Board exam conducted by Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC).

Abhijeet has secured a grand total of 490 marks.

Abhijeet along with Tanu Kumari of +2 High School in Boarijore; Tanya Sah of Carmel High School, Chakradharpur; Riya Kumari of Girls High School Hariharganj; Nisha Verma of Indira Gandhi balika Vidyalaya Hazaribagh; and Nisha Kumari of Carmel High School, Chakradharpur are joint state toppers scoring 490 marks.

Asked about his achievement, he said, “I knew that I would pass the Matric Board exam with good marks. But I had never thought that I would become the state topper.”

Humble by nature, the topper said he aspired to become a software engineer. His father Akhilesh Sharma mends chairs by offering door-to-door services for a living.

According to Abhijeet, he never stood second in any exam from class I till date. “I used to study eight hours daily. For six hours, I read new topics and devoted one hour to revision. I devoted one hour to practice through writing what I had read before.”

Abhijeet’s father took loan to bear the expenses of his studies. He has got admission in class XI at Baldwin Farm Area School, Kadma.

JAC announced its Matriculation Board and Intermediate Science results here on Tuesday. A total of 3,99,920 students had got registered for the Matric Board exam, out of whom 3,91,100 students appeared in the exams. As many as 2,25,854 students passed with First Division while 1,24,514 secured second division. In Intermediate Science, 54,769 students secured first division while 5,117 got second division.

This year around seven lakh students took the JAC exams. The Matric Board exams were held between 24th March and 20th April 2022.
