NIT Director Inaugurates 39th Fair

Books, Culture, and Creativity Take Centre Stage

Jamshedpur: The 39th edition of the Jamshedpur Book Fair opened on a vibrant note on Friday evening as NIT Jamshedpur Director Prof. Goutam Sutradhar inaugurated the 10-day literary fest at the Rabindra Bhavan grounds in Sakchi. The ceremony drew book lovers, academicians, students, and families, all eager to be part of the city’s grand annual celebration of knowledge and creativity. Director-cum-Registrar of Arka Jain University graced the occasion as the guest of honour, adding academic depth to the inaugural moments.

Organised by The Tagore Society, Jamshedpur, the fair has transformed the Rabindra Bhavan premises into a buzzing cultural hive. A total of 67 stalls, showcasing a rich palette of national and international publishers, offer everything from timeless classics to the latest releases in fiction, non-fiction, children’s literature, self-help, spiritual texts, and academic books.

Leading names such as Mermaids Publishing, Oxford University Press, Woodpecker Books, Prakashan Sansthan, and Sahitya Akademi are among the key participants this year, reinforcing the fair’s growing stature in eastern India.

Beyond book browsing, visitors can look forward to an immersive lineup of book launches, author interactions, reading sessions, and panel discussions, alongside cultural evenings dedicated to the legacy of Rabindranath Tagore.

Students, who enjoy free entry with valid ID, have a special reason to rejoice with the Young Readers’ Corner, designed to nurture reading habits through storytelling, comics, and educational materials.
