Jamshedpur, March 1: Police here on Wednesday arrested BJP leader Harjeet Singh alias Chintu Singh in connection with a case of manhandling government officials lodged against him.
Chintu Singh was produced before the court after medical examination. A local court later granted him bail, sources said.
The BJP leader and several others were booked for allegedly manhandling government officials and obstructing government work near Basant Central in Sakchi. He is also the president of Sanatan Utsav Samiti. He and his associates had clashed with police on the night of 9th December last. The outfit members were protesting police action aimed at stopping construction of Hanuman temple near Basant Central. A team of district administration had visited the construction site and ordered lathicharge on the protestors.
