Jamshedpur, Aug 7: The euphoria following the abolition of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir received a shattering jolt as the news of the sudden and unexpected demise of former foreign minister and former Delhi chief minister Sushma Swaraj came as a bolt from the blue. The nation was shell shocked. Yet all good things have to come to an end and Sushma Swaraj was political personality with more than a human touch that endeared her to people and places beyond all political barriers. The pall of gloom was palpable in the BJP camp.
A condolence meeting was organized at the BJP district office in Sakchi where members and leaders including Dinesh Kumar, Chandrashekhar Mishra, Devendra Singh, Haldhar Narayan Shah, Sanjiv Kumar, Kulwant Singh Bunty, Amarjit Singh Raja, Niru Singh, Chittaranjan Verma and others eulogized the departed leader and offered floral tributes. Speaking on the occasion the party�s district president Dinesh Kumar while expressing his grief observed, �The sudden demise of an adept leader, polished speaker and a great human being is an irreparable loss to the world of politics. The Jamshedpur Mahanagar BJP expresses its sorrow over her passing away. We pray to the Almighty to give her family and close ones the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.�
BJP district spokesman Ankit Anand stated, �I am stunned and speechless. The former foreign minister�s sudden demise is painful. The news of Sushmaji�s demise spells the end of an era. She will be always remembered as a dynamic leader. It will be very difficult to fill her space. In her death the country the country has lost a patriot and a bold daughter.�
Central minister Arjun Munda reacting to the news of Sushma Swaraj�s death stated, �The loss has created a huge void in the Indian political scenario. She was a favourite leader loved and admired by all Indians. The nation stands by the side of her family at this juncture of grief.�
A visibly moved Saryu Roy said, �The death of Sushma Swaraj has saddened me no end. I had known her since 1977 and our relationship was like that of family members. I have had many opportunities to work with her right from the days of Janata Party to BJP. She was honest and kind hearted. She was a model Indian. I pray for the peace of her soul. Some voids can never be filled.�
Former Jharkhand minister and Congress leader Banna Gupta expressed his deep shock and sorrow at the passing away of Sushma Swaraj. He said, �She rose above political barricades and exhibited the power of humaneness and understanding that made her a great leader and the most successful foreign minister. Her contribution will remain indelible. Sushmaji�s death is an irreparable loss to the country. May her soul rest in peace and may God give her family the strength to bear this great loss.�
Former BJP state spokesperson and leader Amarpreet Singh Kale while expressing his grief at the sudden demise of Sushma Swaraj said, �At first I could not believe the news of her death. I was left stunned and speechless. She was so lively with a smile perennially on her face. Sushmaji was kind hearted and a bold politician whose eloquent speeches, though hard hitting, was admired by all. She was much loved, admired and respected by the Indian masses. She rose above political divides to help people. May God give her family the fortitude to bear this great loss.�
