Jamshedpur, March 18 : In a shocking incident, a 45-year-old businessman shot himself with his licensed rifle at his house in Chandrawati Nagar under Ulidih police station area in Mango late last night.
The person, identified as Amarnath Vajpayee alias Bablu, was suffering from depression. But neighbours revealed that the deceased had a fight with his wife few minutes before he shot himself dead.
OC, Uldih police station, Mukesh Chaudhury said this to be a case of suicide, but could not say the exact reason behind the suicide.
” We are investigating the incident. A team of forensic science experts took finger-prints and blood samples. We expect that the exact reason behind the suicide will be known after the forensic investigation and statement made by the family members only,” said Chaudhury.
Bablu who is also a BJP activist used to stay with his mother, wife and two children — a 18-year-old son and a 15-year-old daughter. The deceased had a business of battery and had also a showroom on the NH-33 in Mango.
Sources said Saturday was the deceased’s 45th birthday and he had gone outside in the evening.
“On returning home at 9 pm, he knocked at the door. As the wife delayed in opening the door, he hit the wife. Then there was an fight between the two. Soon after his mother intervened and scolded him,” said the relative.
According to the relative, Bablu went to the roof of the house where he was crying loudly. “Later his wife and mother also joined him and all together wept. Then only he returned to his room and shut himself in his bedroom.
Considering everything returned to normalcy, the family members started their works, but in the meantime they heard a noise from the room. On rushing to the room, his wife and mother say Bablu was lying on the bed and his head bleeding. Lying beside his body was the licensed rifle,” said a relative.
