Jamshedpur : Members of Jamshedpur Bar Association staged agitation over their long pending demands.
The legal fraternity is seeking proper infrastructure, including chamber and library, stipend of Rs 10,000 for new entrants, budgetary allocation of Rs 5,000 crore for lawyer�s and client�s welfare, land at concessional rates and amendment in rules for ensuring appointment of lawyers in tribunals, forums and commissions.
The Bar Council of India had in a meeting held on February 2 given a call for the agitation which was endorsed by the Jharkhand State Bar Council. The agitation was marked by a protest held by association members. It may be noted here that on Tuesday lawyers from all over the state arrived at Ranchi to take part in a procession to the Raj Bhawan. The advocates handed over the memorandum of demands to the Governor.
