Jamshedpur, Sept. 7: A 65-year-old auto driver committed suicide by hanging himself from a railway bridge near Sunsunia gate on Burmamines-Sakchi road under Burmamines police station area on Monday morning. The deceased was later identified as Jogender Singh, a resident of East Plant Bustee in Burmamines. The deceased was an auto-rickshaw driver and was staying with his family at East Plant bustee.
The police said this to be a case of suicide and the deceased might have committed suicide after his poor financial condition further due to lockdown.

The police have, however, recovered the body and also a rope that the deceased used for hanging himself. The police have sent the body to the MGM Medical College Hospital at Sakchi. He will be tested for coronavirus. The body will be shifted to the medical college mortuary at Dimna for autopsy on Tuesday.
A police official said the deceased had gone out of his house at about 9 pm on Sunday, but did not return home, leading the family members to search for him throughout the night, but in the morning some people discovered a man’s body which was tied to a plastic rope hanging from a pole of the railway bridge nearby.
“We are investigating the incident. He might have committed suicide due to financial condition. The man might have committed suicide by hanging past midnight after commuters had stopped passing through the road,” the official.
