Jamshedpur: Applicants warned against fake calls in teacher appointment process

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur:  The ongoing teacher appointment process in East Singhbhum has become a target for fraudsters, with middlemen making false promises to desperate applicants. The District Education Superintendent (DSE) has issued a strong warning, urging applicants to be cautious and report any suspicious calls to the authorities.

The district is currently filling 154 teaching positions that remained vacant after the 2015 recruitment drive. A provisional list of 136 selected candidates has been released following recent counselling sessions. However, the process has left 807 applicants out, and middlemen have been exploiting their disappointment by demanding hefty bribes, ranging from Rs 10 to 30 lakh, to falsely assure them of inclusion in the final selection list.

The DSE has responded by publicly releasing the phone numbers—8945008377 and 7250272018—associated with these fraudulent calls. Applicants are being advised not to engage with these callers and to immediately file a complaint with the police if contacted. The DSE emphasized that the entire recruitment process is being conducted transparently, and no outside intervention can alter the outcomes.

This appointment process, which was delayed for nine years due to legal disputes over reserved posts, is now in its final stages. The final round of counselling is scheduled for August 25, and applicants are urged to rely solely on official communications and not be swayed by illegal offers.
