Jamshedpur, April 22: A team of East Singhbhum district administration removed encroachment from a leased land close to Golmuri Golf Course on Friday. It had made huge deployment of armed cops to deal with agitators. However no protest was witnessed during the removal of encroachment, sources said.

Sources said the company management had requested the administration to remove the encroachment. A BPLE case was registered in the court of the Jamshedpur Circle Officer in this connection, sources said.

In another anti-encroachment drive, the district administration team today freed a government plot from the clutches of land sharks in front of Gitanjali Apartment in Zone No 6, Birsanagar. More than six houses were demolished with the help of bulldozer, officials said.

Local residents claimed they had purchased the said land at the rate of Rs 4 lakh per Katha in the year 2018. They said they were told the land belongs to Bihar government. Agreements were also signed by the land dealers, they said.

The residents claimed they were not served any prior notice before the anti-encroachment drive. They said they would complaint to the Deputy Commissioner against the move and also take legal recourse.

Sources said a task force had been formed to prevent encroachment of government land across the city. SDO Dhalbhum has been made the nodal officer. The task force would remove encroachment of both government and private land.
