Jamshedpur Airport: Union minister letter raises hope of Dhalbhumgarh Airport construction, says Bidyut Mahato 

Jamshedpur, February 13: Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Varan Mahto had recently met Union civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and submitted a letter for starting construction work of Dhalbhumgarh Airport in Ghatshila sub-division of East Singhbhum district.
In the light of that letter, Union Minister has sent a letter to Bidyut Mahato, clarifying these things. Through the letter, the Union minister apprised about the present status of the airport that in the context of his letter dated February 02, 2022, which is related to paving the way for the construction of Dhalbhumgarh airport under East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand state.
“I would like to inform you that the Joint Venture Agreement (JV Agreement) and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Jharkhand State Government for the development of Dhalbhumgarh Airport was signed on 24.01.2018. On the suggestion of the Environment Appraisal Committee (EAC) meeting on September 24, 2020 for environmental clearance of the proposed site, AAI advised the Government of India to appoint a Forest Clearance Consultant (FCC) to coordinate with the Chief Forest Warden. The consultant appointed by the Jharkhand Government had submitted the required documents on 25.11.2021 in the office of the Nodal Authority of the Forest Department. The response of the State Government in this regard is awaited,” the letter states.
On receipt of forest clearance from the State Government, further action will be taken with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Change through Environment Assessment Advisor appointed by AAI to obtain environmental clearance.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation is committed to provide air service to the public in all areas of the country and prompt action will be taken by the Ministry on receipt of the report of the State Government in the above matter.
After receiving the letter, Jamshedpur MP said that he got assurance that the Union Minister would talk to the Chief Minister directly. He expressed the hope that a positive solution to the airport issue would be seen soon.
