Jamshedpur: Air Quality Monitoring System stops working in just 8 days

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, Nov 30: The newly-installed Air Quality Monitoring System at Mango Chowk has gone defunct in merely eight days. Installed on 22nd November last, the machine is not showing pollution levels in the air.

All index figures as shown in the machine are zero.

Criticizing the Mango Municipal Corporation (MMC) authorities, local residents said the machine failed to tell the current level of pollution at Mango Chowk. Save for the clock, the machine is not showing any other value such as air quality index, PM 2.5, PM10, carbon dioxide, nitrogen etc.

Local shop keepers said they had informed the MMC authorities about the breakdown of the machine. They said the machine was working till Tuesday last. From Wednesday, the machine is not displaying the various air quality indices.

Suresh Yadav, Executive Order, MMC, said, “The machine was alright till Tuesday last. We will call a technician to fix the fault in the machine. We expect the machine to start working soon.”
